DEALER ALTERNATIVE :::: Detroit Series 60 14.0L Turbo & Actuator 23539570 - NOW AVAILABLE!
If you have a 2008-2011 trucks with a Detroit Series 60 engine, your turbo salvation has arrived!
The DDEC VI was the last Series 60 configuration available before being replaced by the DD15. While Detroit primarily used Garrett turbos on their series 60 engines, emissions regulations in 2007 pushed Detroit into switching to a VGT turbocharger from Holset. VGT turbos are awesome, (When they're new and functioning correctly), but when they get some milege on them and begin to fail, VGT turbos can do some SERIOUS damage to your wallet. You may have stuck vanes, or a laggy actuator - but you are most likely better off replacing the whole unit.
If you have priced one of these turbos at the dealer, I hope the guy at the counter atleast let you sit down because he laid the number on you. Fortunately, Momentum Worx is now carrying these turbos with calibrated actuators and an installation kit. For $2200 you get a complete solution in the box and you'll be back on the road making money.
