CAT C15 / CAT 3406E | S430SX vs. S410SX Turbo— What You Need to Know
S430SX vs. S410SX — What You Need to Know
If you're searching for an S430SX turbocharger, it's important to understand that this model was discontinued by the manufacturer years ago. All applicable part numbers have since been transitioned into the S410SX product line.
A common misconception in the diesel community is that the S430SX is larger or somehow superior to the S410SX. That is simply not the case.
The primary difference between the two platforms was internal bearing spacing. The original S430SX frame design was known to experience oiling-related issues over time. BorgWarner addressed and resolved these concerns with the updated S410SX frame design, which features improved bearing geometry and oil control.
Bottom line:
The S410SX is the refined, updated evolution of the S430SX — not a downgrade.
If you're building a reliable performance setup for your CAT 3406E or C15, the S410SX is the proven move.
